Billy Huyler is a baritone praised by OperaWire for having a voice that is “focused and indicative of substantial vocal agility.” Most recently, he was seen as Masetto in Sarasota Opera’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. The 2022 season brought his debut with The Princeton Festival singing Sid in Britten’s Albert Herring, as well as covering the role of Sergeant Sulpice in Donizetti’s La fille du regiment with Sarasota as a Studio Artist. In April 2021 he made his debut with Opera Southwest singing the role of Tarabotto in Rossini’s L’inganno felice. In the 2019-2020 season he was selected as an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera where he made his mainstage debut singing the Doganiere in La bohème, and covering the roles of Grégorio in Roméo et Juliette and Usciere in Rigoletto. Huyler also was selected to perform the role of Tom in the New York City premiere of Laura Kaminsky’s Some Light Emerges with Utopia Opera. In the 2018-2019 season he sang the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at the Estates Theatre in Prague, Czech Republic. He can be heard on Albany Record’s recording of Isouard’s Cendrillon as the Baron de Montefiascone. He received his Masters of Music in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music and his Bachelor of Music Education in Voice from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Huyler is a native of Florham Park, New Jersey and is based in Brooklyn, New York.
